Just learned about this site iHerb.com. No it’s not just herbs, they have all kinds of supplements, health care products, toiletries, etc. Good deals, check em out. Their prices on some stuff pretty much blows away anywhere else. Free shipping >$40, otherwise a $4 flat rate UPS ground.
Deals I especially recommend (big bottle=great deal):
SweetLeaf Stevia extract. It’s alcohol-free unlike most other stevia extracts. 0 cals, no glycemic, natural sweetener. Use it in tea, smoothies, cooking, whatever.
Singing Dog Organic Vanilla Extract: This price is unreal. I paid this much for a tiny bottle of it at the grocery store. Good stuff, I like to use it in my morning banana cacao sorbet concoction.
Dr. Bronner’s Almond 18in1 Soap: This soap is pretty amazing. I’ve only recently got into it, but I guess it can be used for all kinds of things, even in the dishwasher or clothes washer. Little bit goes a long way. The almond scent is pretty delicious.
Earthrise Spirulina: I can’t speak for this product as I haven’t used it yet, but the price is very hot. Spirulina has many purported health benefits, it can be sprinkled on a salad or used in a smoothie.

If you’re into PC gaming at all, you’ve hopefully played or at least heard of The Witcher, it was one of the very best games of 2007. Well the champs at CD Projekt Red acknowledged that it wasn’t a perfect release, and today are releasing a super premium Enhanced Edition in stores today or soon. BUT, if you already own the game, and register[ed] it, you are entitled to download it free.
If you don’t own this, now’s the time to buy
.
If you already own it, make sure you’ve registered it, and try downloading the files here. You’ll need to download the (1.4) patch, and the English language pack. Good luck with those servers though, I had much better luck with fileshack.

Let’s assume that you are trying to play BioShock
, arguably the best PC game of 2007, on your Windows Vista (or 7?) PC, and are having the annoying problem of the game freezing on you as it tries to load the game. You can run in windowed mode, but that’s not going to cut it. Let us also assume you have a tablet pen, because, let’s face it, you’re awesome. And it’s actually probably related to your annoying freeze.
Here’s how to fix it:
- Go to Windows Control panel -> Programs and Features
- Click “Turn Windows features on or off” on the left.
- Look for “Tablet PC Optional Components” (or perhaps “Mobile Tablet PC”)
- Uncheck it and press OK.
Your tablet will still work. The only side effect should be that some of the annoying tablet features that came with your Wacom driver will be disabled. It’s a win/win in my opinion. Or if you must have them, you can just re-enable them when you’re done with the game.

Update1: This page still gets a fair number of hits; welcome visitors. I thought I’d throw in another bone, since I’m playing through this game again myself in prep for Bioshock 2. Let’s fix another annoyance while we’re at it.
Here’s how to get rid of the intro screens which take like 30 seconds before you can start the game each time. To do this, edit your Bioshock shortcut to look like the below screenshot. (In the target line, you’re adding -nointro.) (There should be a space between that last quotation mark and the dash.) (If you’re accessing your shortcut from your Games menu, you right click it, Customize, then click Edit.)

Update2: another tip. If you have issue understanding some of the voices in the game like I did, rather than turn on subtitles you can simply turn down the sound effect and music volumes, then turn up the system volume to compensate. Recordings and radio messages can be replayed and read in the tape section of the map screen.
Man, I remember how hilarious this Onion article was when it first came out. At the time Gillette had the Mach3, which was ridiculous enough, but not to be outdone, the Quatro came out and had 4 blades. Well the Onion predicted it and sure enough Gillette released the 5 blade behemoth the Fusion. Then they added batteries. And now, wtf a flashlight? C’mon. They should call it the “Mach-U“.

What’s next, a toothbrush? Nail clippers? Nose hair trimmer? (hey that’s not a bad idea.)
It’s all a ploy to get you to spend more and more on blades. Once they hit $2 per I jumped ship and went with a good ol’ fashioned premium Merkur Vision double edge. (yes it’s spendy too but the blades are $0.50 and last months)

Trent Reznor is the man, he has released the new Nine Inch Nails disc, “the slip”, entirely free. There’s not even a link to pay or donate. Physical manifestations will be released in July. GET IT HERE. Review/thoughts to follow.
You can snag 2 new NIN tracks here @ facebook/ilike. Supposedly there’s an annoucement coming tomorrow @ nin.com, probably news of the new album.
Dark and brooding, beautiful haunting genius. This is going on heavy rotation. I can’t get enough of The Rip and Threads right now.
If you like Portishead at all, you need to grab it
.
Grand Theft Auto IV finally comes out tomorrow, and so far it’s getting great reviews. IGN gave it a 10/10 for both XBOX360 and PS3 versions. Gamespot also gives a 10. 1up.com gave it an A+. Here’s an interview with Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser. Here’s an XBOX vs PS3 version type analysis. Here’s a video review on YouTube. Here’s a different take on a review/preview over @ Destructoid, pretty funny.
GTA3 San Andreas was such a great game, and I didn’t get into it until a year after it came out. Damnit I wish I had a PS3.
Pick up a copy of GTAIV @ Amazon
.

Assassin’s Creed is released to PC today. Looks like a winner. If only GT5 and GTA4 were released on PC.

David Lynch’s Lost Highway was properly and quietly released to DVD last week. I say properly because although this movie came out in 1997, prior to last week the best one could get was a horribly transferred 4:3 from Canada. This film rules.
