Trick I’ve discovered in Vista for muting just Firefox, say if you’re playing a flash game with no mute button on it and you want to hear your iTunes..
1: Click speaker icon
2: Click Mixer
3: Put your junk in that box
Not only is selectively muting apps highly useful, but this is also the place where you can permanently change the relative volume of anything which doesn’t have a volume knob.
Addendum 11/12/09: Now Ubuntu 9.10 has come on board with this capability. Right click the sound icon and enter Sound Preferences (or via System->Preferences->Volume Control). It’s on the Applications tab:

Nice little collection of flash games I recently found. There is some quality here. Easy way to waste some time. Brought to you by Gamefly.com I guess. May I recommend Armor Picross 2, Arrival in Hell, and Baseball. See anything you like there? Why not Post a Comment..

I wish the ball had a slight springy effect. Purple power! The music kind of reminds me of the background tunes in the classic game Gabriel Knight 2.
Play around with some sand and whatnot. You can lay down some flammables then torch it with fire. Pretty sweet. Requires Java.

This is like DDR, except you play with a keyboard. Pretty hip, there’s some cool music, it’s an ok way to kill some time. Some of the levels are ridiculously difficult though, I can’t imagine playing them with just one hand and a keypad.
Link to FFR (click FFR The Game on the left, then click the flashing circle, then click, say, Halycon. twice)
This game is pretty difficult. The goal is to collect all of the blue balls then make your way to the exit. You can pivot the yellow mirrors 90° by clicking them. The gray mirrors are static or move on their own.
This game will dust the rust off the cells. Get to work.
