Martha Stewart: totally baked
Update: This was actually COMPLETELY lame. Not only was the Gawker vid apparently doctored so that her speech seem slurred, but as far as I can tell the only part about the episode that was remotely about pot was the intro. All they did was sip a little vino and cook up 1 metric ton of pork. Here are the parts on YouTube if you feel like being bored. Part 1 , Part 2 , Part 3
Yesterday Martha Stewart did a show all about pot I guess, and had Jimmy Fallon on as a guest. But it was only on for a few seconds before it was preempted by some crap Catholic news? (in NY at least). She was obviously blasted. I really want to see this whole show.. apparently it did air in full in some areas. Hopefully it shows up torrentially. Apparently I can’t embed this Gawker vid, so you’ll have to click there to see it.
Fmr. Seattle Police chief talks about marijuana prohibition
It’s funny that in Seattle they prioritize jaywalking over marijuana.. I jaywalk all the time! I moved here the week after Hempfest but I hear it’s quite the scene. If you click to the YouTube video page, they have a lot of excellent links in the sidebar.
Hemp could remove U.S. dependence on foreign oil?
Not sure if this ^ is true, but hemp does have the potential to screw over so many industries if it were just allowed to grow. Drug companies, chemicals, cotton, timber, etc. The ironic part is weed is already America’s #1 cash crop. (See also this about California’s #1 industry, pot)
Michael Pollan: fascinating lecture on the evolution of plant drugs and their ubiquity in human culture (and religion..)
This is fascinating stuff, especially the 2nd half. He was a little nerdier back in 2003!
Botany of Desire:
Carl Sagan essay on marijuana
I didn’t even know he smoked..
…When cannabis is legalized, I hope to see this ratio as one of the parameters printed on the pack. I hope that time isn’t too distant; the illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world….
Marijuana legalization tops questions for Obama on his website, change.gov
Wow. Too bad it’ll be ignored. 6 of the top 20 questions deal with the failed Drug War..
